Uric Acid Test

There is a good chance that you have arrived at this site because you have been diagnosed with gout or think you might have gout. For most, that realization occurs when one day you wake up and have extreme pain in your foot, usually near your big toe. If either of these is the case than you already know that to properly test for gout  you will need to check your uric acid levels. A Uric Acid test usually requires you to see your doctor to have him prescribe blood lab work.
A Uric Acid test typically involves  taking a venous blood sample, using a syringe, and sending the sample away to a specialty lab. It could take days before you will have the results. With your own uric acid monitoring kit this no longer has to be the case.
Now you can test for gout by performing a home uric acid test whenever you wish to, much like diabetics can test their own glucose levels on a daily basis with a glucose meter, and the technique is almost identical.

Uric Acid Monitoring Kit

There are several ways to confirm that you have gout. Perhaps the most accurate way to test for gout is to remove a sample of the fluids from your joints, a medical procedure  known as arthrocentesis, to determine if uric acid crystals are present. If your uric acid levels exceed approximately 6 grams per deciliter in your blood for an extended period of time, there is a good chance that the acid will precipitate to form crystals in your joints.  This is what causes the pain. If there is too much pain in the area, like your big toe, it can be very painful to remove fluid from the affected joint. So often a diagnosis is made by simply testing  your bloods uric acid concentrations.  A uric acid test can now be done with our uric acid monitoring kit using a simple procedure.  We offer two kinds of uric acid monitoring kits, both will test your uric acid and glucose levels but the deluxe model will also allow you to monitor your total cholesterol levels.

How To Test For Gout

To test for gout with our uric acid test meter you simply prick you finger with a special lancet device, to obtain a very small sample droplet of blood.   The lancet device is included with your kit, as are the disposable lancets, which is basically a very thin, sharp needle.  The lancet is inserted into the lancet device and  plunger is pulled back and set.  The plunger is released and the lancet makes a quick, almost painless prick on your finger causing a small drop of blood to form.   A testing strip is inserted into the uric acid test meter and the small blood sample is touched to the strip. Within a matter of seconds you can read the results of the uric acid test. The is one of the quickest and easiest ways how you can test for gout.

How To Control Your Gout

There is really only one way to reduce or eliminate the painful flareups that come with gout.  YOU MUST reduce your uric acid levels in your body.  Whether you choose to see a doctor who can prescribe drugs like Uloric, Allopurinol or other medicines to reduce your uric acid levels, or you decide to go the natural route by watching your diet,  reducing foods high in purines, stop drinking alcoholic beverages, take natural herbal supplements, cherry extract or other homeopathic medicines,  or even  loose weight etc... either way, you absolutely must know your uric acid test results by frequently monitoring your uric acid levels.  Your goal must be to keep your uric acid levels below 6 milligrams per deciliter.
